DJ Noncents

October 29, 2008 | ByHenry| 4 Comments

Richard Nickel, better known as DJ Noncents, approached us with a project a couple weeks ago. For years, DJ’ing was only a hobby for him. Recently, Noncents decided to step his game up to another level…and when he did — he contacted Shinobi Studios. DJ Noncents wanted a brand new image and look. He wanted something fresh and he knows that Shinobi Studios can make that happen.

The Beginnings

October 29, 2008 | ByGarrick| 3 Comments

I just thought that I’d take some time to share a little bit about how Shinobi Studios was created. For a while now, we’ve all been friends with each other through photography. What I mean is: photography is what initially drew us all together, and although it’s definitely not the only reason why we are good friends and work well together, but it definitely has been nice to have a shared passion with everyone. The idea of starting up a photographic company has been in our heads for quite a while now, but after several failed attempts of securing a name and website, this idea had subsided for the time being.

Despite the delay, our passion for photography kept growing, and all it took was some serious initiative from Henry and Susan to get things off the ground. We gathered up, shared ideas, and (Henry mostly) got to work on a website and logo design. With feedback from everyone, we were able to create something that was ours; something that we’re very proud to share with you all through our web presence.

Finally, our ideas and photographs had a virtual place to live, and this post was to just share a few steps of the process.

It took a lot of hard work…

brainstorming..

… and a lot of boba and crispy chicken, haha

Happy Halloween From Shinobi Studios!

October 24, 2008 | ByHenry| 3 Comments

Halloween is just around the corner and it’s actually one of my favorite…*ahem*….holidays/time of the year. There’s parties every week in October. Everyone’s is dressed up in costumes, just having a good time. To me, it’s the beginning of the entire holiday season. Soon enough, it’ll be Thanksgiving and of course, Black Friday. Shortly after, it’ll be Christmas and then we’ll start a brand new year! Time sure does fly pretty quick!

My costume is already in the mail and it SHOULD arrive before the end of next week. I won’t reveal what it is, but it shouldn’t be too surprising if you know me pretty well.

What is your Halloween costume?

(camera geeky Strobist info: yes. that is a SB800 fired at 1/4 power INSIDE of the pumpkin. can you think of a better way to light it?)

Go Ninja!

October 22, 2008 | ByGarrick| 1 Comment

So, I was thinking… what better way would there be than to kick off a shinobi studios website launch rather than having a few photos up from a ninja shoot?! These couple of photos were from a project that spawned before the creation of shinobi studios. They were for a collaborative project between Henry and myself, two of the shinobi photographers and founding members. Who knew that these photos would come in handy one day? Anyway, here’s a couple photos from the day with Alissa, our resident ninja!
